Julia Ogrydziak began playing the violin at the age of 3 and made her solo debut at age 6. She has performed throughout Europe and North America, including the Tanglewood Festival and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival. She has studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the New England Conservatory of Music, and in Paris. In addition to her violin studies, Ms. Ogrydziak has a Masters of Design degree with Distinction from Harvard and graduated from MIT with dual degrees in Music and Physics, receiving the AMITA award for most outstanding woman graduate.

A vocal proponent of modern music, she has collaborated with many of the foremost composers of our time. She performed Steve Reich's Grammy-award winning “Different Trains,” winning the Ida M. Naess award, and has worked closely with composers John Harbison and Evan Ziporyn. She has also been involved in performance and composition with electronic music for over a decade, working as both artist and composer. Rrecently, she performed a solo piece for violin and electronics with the Harvard Group for New Music and premiered 3 of her own electro-acoustic compositions as part of the inaugural HYDRA Concert series in Boston. While a researcher at the MIT Media Lab, she directed the “Hyperinstruments” performance at Lincoln Center. Her most recent project is Linnatee - A Northern Tale, which will premiere in Los Angeles in 2007. This is the next generation of her multi-media show combining live performance with immersive visuals, Dark Blue Sky Dream.

Ms. Ogrydziak is also an award-winning artist and visual designer with a background in photography and visual design. She is a Founding Partner of the design and technology firm Blacksquare.
